The carriage started to leave as Cora started to cough in her hand, scarlet substance dripped on her hand.

Arina looked up at the moon, her eyes closed as she started to change.

The carriage took off and disappeared in the night.

Arina streaked after it.

The carriage kept going until it stopped in front of alleyway.

Arina stopped a while behind, watching.

A ghastly old woman stepped out to greet the carriage. Cora stepped out and handed the old lady coins, a lot of it. The elderly lady handed Cora a vile.

Arina tilted her head.


Are the Downworlders and the Shadowhunters friends?

Cora took the vile and went back into the carriage.



Yes , most of the time.

Arina's eyes flashed.

Cora disappeared in the carriage.

Arina waited.

The carriage turned around and didn't stop until it reached the Institute.

Arina followed it the whole way.

Cora stepped out with the vial in her pocket.

Arina watched her from the bushes.

Cora entered the Institute soundlessly, her face beyond pale.

Arina followed her, moving as silently as a shadow.

Cora raced down into the Institute and ran getting to her room.

Arina stopped at the door and turned, walking away.

Cora was in her room putting the vile with the others thinking, I wish I could avoid doing this, but I can't, I'll die. But if I keep doing this I'll die slowly. I only have a year or so. Cora held the vile up and ate the contents.

Arina padded down the hall.

Some color returned to her cheeks, but Cora was still pale, a sickly color.

Arina shook her head.
